Middle aged Greg is tired of his job in finance and looking for meaning in his life. He finds a dog in the park—(or does she find him?)—bearing only the name “Sylvia” on her name tag. Sylvia is an exuberant and cheeky stray who is looking for a new home. Greg takes an immediate liking to her and brings her home to the apartment he shares with his wife Kate.

Unlike Greg, Kate’s career is taking off and right now she does not need a ‘Sylvia’ in her life! She is not so thrilled by this ‘loveable’ canine that jumps, slobbers, and cheekily sits on the new couch. Reluctantly she agrees to give Sylvia a trial for a few days!
With Sylvia's unconditional loyalty and affection, Greg is able to relax and escape from his work stresses. But Kate remains unimpressed by Sylvia’s antics and the tension rises between the couple as this cheeky dog becomes a significant part of their life.
