Brisbane-based families are in for a roarsome experience when huge dinosaurs stomp into Kalinga Park for Brisbane’s first-ever showing of the biggest outdoor dinosaur event taking Australia by storm.

With life-size, real walking and moving dinosaurs, DinoFest will show in Brisbane during the spring school holidays.

DinoFest is a highly unique and interactive, outdoor experience-based event especially designed for children aged nine and younger.

Specialising in Tyrannosaurs, DinoFest Brisbane – Age of the Tyrannosaur tells the story of how Tyrannosaurs grew from small dog-sized dinosaurs to become the world’s most fearsome predators over the course of 100 million years.

While T. Rex is understandably ‘king of show’, DinoFest will also showcase a range of other popular dinosaurs that attendees can touch, pat, and interact with in a way that is deliberately designed to engage young children as a magical and life-long memorable experience.

DinoFest features Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus and Carnotaurus two-legged meat eaters, plus lots of cute baby dinosaurs. Raptors, Ankylosaurs, and prehistoric Pterosaurs, which once inhabited Australia more than 100 million years ago, will also make an appearance.

In addition to the thrill of a 45-minute Dinosaur Encounter with many walking and interactive dinosaurs, DinoFest also includes a Dinosaur Trail with more than 30 dinosaurs enroute including a life-size T. Rex. The ultimate dinosaur experience also has a range of educational and highly engaging kids’ activities like a Dino Dig, themed arts and crafts, and “feel a fossil” with real dinosaur bones.

Additionally, a large, long-necked Titanosaur, like ‘Cooper' – the dinosaur whose fossil was discovered in south-west Queensland near Cooper Creek in 2007 – will make an extra special VIP appearance on the Dinosaur Trail.

DinoFest Founder, Laurence Taylor, says the heritage-listed Kalinga Park is an ideal setting for DinoFest and family-fun more generally.

“One of the aims of DinoFest is to divert kids away from their devices and outside for more active fun in the sun and fresh air. As a dad, I know from experience that holding kids’ attention without technology can be challenging nowadays but DinoFest has proven that it is doable for at least 90 minutes,” says Laurence.

“We deliberately chose Kalinga Park in Brisbane because it includes a beautiful flat lawn area that suits our walking dinosaurs to a tee and the variety of mature trees work to transport DinoFest visitors back in time.

“Additionally, Kalinga Park has ample free parking, it’s wheelchair accessible, is easy to find and has lots of open space for families to enjoy. It provides an ideal opportunity for families to consider combining their DinoFest experience with a picnic, visit to Kalinga Park playground or a spring walk around the lush parklands.

“We saw huge interest in DinoFest on the Gold Coast earlier this year and we’ve been itching to get to Brisbane ever since. It seems Brisbane may actually rival the Gold Coast as home to Australia’s biggest dinosaur enthusiasts because bookings for the Brisbane show are soaring swiftly.

“We have a cap on participant numbers at DinoFest not just for safety reasons but also because we’re very focussed on giving attendees a truly magical and thrilling experience that’s very hands-on and one they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. Our guests can meet-and-greet the dinosaurs and our Rangers and even capture the experience with photo opportunities,” adds Laurence.

While tickets can be purchased on entry, families are strongly encouraged to pre-book online as DinoFest Brisbane will sell out faster than a Velociraptor can run!
