Opera Scholars Australia is thrilled to present its highly anticipated Aria Competition Final. The event, showcasing the talents of emerging opera singers, will take place at 7.00pm on Thursday September 12th at the Hawthorn Arts Centre in Melbourne.

After a rigorous selection process, (including heats and a semi final) six exceptional finalists will be chosen to compete. These talented singers will have the opportunity to perform a short program of their choosing before esteemed adjudicator (opera legend and agent) Patrick Togher and a live audience, all vying for the chance to win the prestigious title.

The singing competition has launched the careers of many young artists. Joan Sutherland won one of Australia's most important competitions, The Sun Aria, in 1949. Pavarotti won first prize at the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen in 1955. The OSA Aria Competition takes its place in this important tradition. It puts the winning Scholar on the path to greatness, while offering incredible learning opportunities for our entire competing cohort. Previous winners include Helena Dix (recently appeared in the title role in Norma at The Met in New York), Nicholas Jones (currently performing at the Opera Nationale de Paris) and Shimona Rose (who recently won the Pendine International Voice of the Future award at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod - joining the likes of Pavarotti!)

The winner receives a $2000 prize to further their studies and all finalists obtain a video of their program to submit for external competitions, applications and scholarships.

Don't miss this chance to support the incredible talent of our six finalists - to be able to say 'I was there, when...' as our top Scholars go on to have glittering international careers. Get your tickets now and be a part of a night to remember in the world of opera!

Performance commences at 7pm with a 20 minute interval. We will crown the winner at 10pm.
