Music On a Market Sunday – Beethoven and Kucharz: CANCELLED

Beethoven and Kucharz in March Market Sunday Concert.

The Music on a Market Sunday concert at 12:30pm on 29 March in the Uniting Church features music for organ and piano by Beethoven and Kucharz performed by Lena Schmalz.

Lena Schmalz is one of Armidale’s leading organists and wanted to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th anniversary in this concert. Beethoven wrote comparatively little music for organ, but Lena has unearthed a light hearted suite for mechanical organ and paired it with a similar piece by little known Czech composer, organist and mandolinist Johann Kucharz. The program is rounded out with some early Beethoven on piano. This is a good opportunity to hear some little known repertoire.

Admission to the concert is free, though donations are encouraged. Tea and sausages will be available at the Uniting Church before the concert.
