Melbourne Big Day Out has revealed the line-up for the inaugural Chow Town at next year’s festival, providing punters with tasty, trendy and talented treats.
Curated by Culinary Outlaws of Porteno, Ben Milgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz, the foodies included herald a new age and type of artistic appreciation within the iconic festival, whipping up a mix of old-school American, breakfasts and coffees, Thai and Mediterranean.
Daniel Wilson of Huxtaburger will present his famous old-school Yank burgers named after the Cosby cast and crispy crinkle cut chips. He’ll be joined by Andrew McConnell of Golden Fields, which has won Chef’s Hat Awards for two years running, Raph of Beatbox Kitchen and Taco Truck, his comfort food presented with a side of killer music, and ST ALi's Chris Hamburger with his “festivalised” all day rock ‘n’ roll breakfast, which sounds like all kinds of naughty delicious.
Festival goers will also be treated to Karen Baston of Cookie’s delicious Bar of the Year award winning and innovative Thai food, and Jess and Vanessa Gerner of Anada’s Mediterranean “peasant” food, heavy in seafood and tapas, and boasting gigantic portions.
No Australian fooding is complete without a barista wizard to ensure everyone’s caffeine levels are up, repped in the 2013 Melbourne Chow Town by Salvatore Malatesta of ST ALi.
Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Perth will all have their respective Chow Town A-listers announced soon.
