Nominations are in for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards with Australia’s own Gotye receiving two nods. The Melbourne artist is up for Video Of The Year category and Best Editing for the Natasha Pincus-directed clip Somebody That I Used To Know.
Rihanna and Drake lead the nominations this year with five nominations; Rihanna’s David Guetta collab We Found Love is up for Video Of The Year while Drake’s Take Care (featuring his competition!) is also up. Perry has come in a close second with four nominations; only a fraction of nods compared to her nine-strong lead in 2011.
Other multiple nominees include M.I.A, Fun., Frank Ocean, One Direction, Kanye West, Beyonce, Coldplay and Lana Del Rey. One of the hardest working artists in pop and the leader of last year’s winners list is surprisingly missing from the nominations, with Lady Gaga not mentioned at all.
