50 years ago, back in 1969, Woodstock was one of the grooviest and iconic events in live music history…close to half a million people attended Woodstock, jamming the roads, with up to 8 miles of traffic.
Over the years, many jazz musicians have stylistically reinvented songs and have gone beyond the Great American Songbook to seek inspiration from some wonderful contemporary artists who appeared at Woodstock. It’s difficult not to be inspired by many of those artists who performed at Woodstock, such as Blood Sweat & Tears, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, Richie Havens, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Neil Young, The Who.
An amusing twist of Jazz@Woodstock will be some of the songs and stories of artists that really wanted to be there but couldn’t make it!
